Of course this is to be expected. It IS Texas, after all. We’re hovering around 95-99 degrees here and looking at the forecast, it’s not going to get any better for the next few weeks. With that being said, the cooler weather is coming and it’ll be here before you know it. Most RVers see the cooler weather as a sign to park your RV in your driveway and wait until next year when the kids are out of school again before they even think about planning a vacation. We see things a little differently down here! Fall is the perfect time to pack up and plan that trip you’ve always wanted. There are a few advantages to hitting the road later in the year.

1. Cooler temperatures

Depending on where you go, you can experience a significant drop in daytime and nighttime temperatures. Here in Texas our Fall usually hits the lower 80s and high 70s. When you think about it, that’s a 20 degree difference! That means you can spend more time outside and use your air conditioner less. If you’re used to just packing shorts and short-sleeved shirts for your summer vacations, then you’ll want to consider just how cool it gets where you’re going. Some Fall destinations could get close to 50 degrees or lower. Pack enough clothes to handle both cooler and warmer weather.

2. Cheaper fees

With the busy season behind you, most RV campsites will offer reduced rates to convince people that they need to come visit. You could easily save up to 50% off of your campground fees! Not only do you get the benefit of cooler temperatures, but you can save money doing it.

3. Less Congestion

With the kids back in school and a good portion of RVers parking their RV until next year, you can avoid the traffic and congestion associated with the busy season. You’ll be able to pick the best spot on the campground, perhaps the one covered with trees or the one that overlooks the lake. If you enjoy swimming in the lake, then you’ll certainly be able to enjoy it without the deluge of summer campers.

4. Fall Sights

One of the best things about traveling towards the end of the season is the changing of the colors! All across America, trees will be preparing for the winter by showing their yellows, reds and golds. Fall is definitely my favorite season, simply because I get to watch that change take place (the cooler temperatures help, too). If you’re a big fan of taking hikes and admiring nature, Fall is the best time to do it! Be sure and bring your camera so you can report back to us!

Sure, it’s easy to park your RV for the rest of the year and wait until next summer, but where’s the fun in that? There’s plenty of RVing and exploring to do once the kids get back to school and the weather cools down. Before you park it for the season, we dare you to take a Fall vacation!

Photo Credit: By Lesserland (Own work) [CC0], via Wikimedia Commons

Check Out Model Year Closeout Deals on RVs in Texas Down here in Texas, it’s been hot and humid this Summer.
