We have it all, within a short drive away. One of the best places in Texas to visit is Big Bend National Park. Not only is it one of the most graceful areas of our huge state, it’s also a great opportunity for those of use who enjoy RVing in the fall, to witness the changing of the colors. Big Bend is one of the most remote places in all of the United States, so getting there is a challenge, but it’s worth the drive and you’ll create plenty of memories and want to come back every year.

Amazing Weather

Big Bend rarely receives snow, so the chances of you getting caught in a snowstorm are minute. Instead of blistering cold weather, you’ll enjoy high temperatures around the 80s and lows around the 50s and 60s. That type of weather means you can plan to visit anytime towards the end of the year and into the new year!

Outdoor Lover’s Dream

If you’ve got an outdoor lover in your family, they’ll never run out of things to do in Big Bend. There’s everything from hiking to canoeing to bicycling to horseback riding. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg! The terrain is great for those of us who enjoy taking our 4-wheelers, motorcycles and jet-skis with us in our toy haulers. One vacation here and you may never want to go back home! For the bird lover in your group, they’ll be pleased to know that there are over 450 species within the park itself!

Plenty of Sights to See

You could spend every moment of every day and still not see everything there is to see. People visit year round and always see something new, that they hadn’t noticed before. There are over 1 million acres of mountains, rivers, and canyons to explore. If your goal is to get out and see parts of the country that take your breath away, then look no further!

An Artist’s Haven

There’s something about natural beauty that brings artists out from the woodwork. You’ll have no trouble finding an arts festival or an artist’s shop where they make hand-made crafts and artwork inspired by the land around them. Plan your trip accordingly and you can catch a lively music and arts festival that’s sure to put a smile on your face!

RV Campsites

There are plenty of RV campgrounds located in and around Big Bend, as it is one of the most popular National Parks in the United States. We recommend calling ahead and reserving your spot, because you never know when there’ll be a surge of travelers and we don’t want you to get turned away! Full hook-ups and scenic views right from your campground make it a destination that you don’t want to miss. Get there as quick as you can!

Photo Credit: By eclectico63 (originally posted to Flickr as Santa Elena Canyon) [CC-BY-SA-2.0 (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/2.0)], via Wikimedia Commons

Living here in Texas we are lucky to have a wealth of beautiful places to pull our RVs to and spend some quality time with our family and friends.
