Keep reading for a beginner’s guide to cleaning your RV’s exterior.

How Often to Wash Your RV

One of the simplest ways you can maintain your camper is to simply keep it clean. You’ll want to wash it after every major trip, as well as before and after putting it in storage for the winter. This is because dirt and grime buildup can wreak havoc on your rig, whether it’s wearing down parts, creating the perfect environment for bacteria to grow, or simply because it doesn’t look great.

Get the Right Supplies

When you approach washing your RV, you’ll want to make sure you have all the right gear. Only use products that are safe for your rig, which means avoiding products with chlorine or abrasive products. Check your owner’s manual for more specific information, but you’ll probably want to settle on a gentle detergent that won’t harm the exterior of your camper.

Also make sure you have a soft bristle brush and rags. Some people like to use a power washer on the tough spots, but be careful as the water pressure is high enough to strip paint and finish.

An RV Cleaning Approach

Wash the RV in small patches to avoid dried on soap scum and don’t forget to pre-wash by rinsing the rig before getting started.

Start from the top and work your way down (and don’t forget to close your vents, doors, and windows).

You’ll probably also want to apply a coat of wax for extra protection and shine. This probably won’t need to happen as often as the regular wash. And don’t forget to let everything dry completely before putting the RV away.

For more information or to explore RVs for sale, visit Fun Town RV.
