What Is A Travel Trailer?

Travel Trailers are designed to be towed by a pickup truck, SUV, or minivan with a bumper or frame hitch. Travel Trailers come in various shapes and sizes. They're easy-to-use and very affordable for your average camper. They also come in a much larger version known as a Destination Trailer.

These Travel Trailers usually have wood frames in their walls and are insulated with fiberglass insulation. Advantages are wood framing does not conduct heat or cold and exterior damage is easily fixed.

These travel trailers typically have aluminum frame with foam block insulation. These are easier to keep clean with smooth sides, less worry for hail damage, and very durable.

Larger Travel Trailers, usually 35-45 feet long. It is designed for park camping and long-term stays in one location. These can sometimes sleep up to 16 people at a time comfortably.

What Is A Fifth Wheel?

Fifth Wheels are designed to be towed by a large pickup or medium duty truck equipped with a Fifth Wheel hitch. Fifth Wheels are generally more expensive than basic Travel Trailers but are a great for long distance travel and grant more overall living space. They also are available as Toy Haulers.

Mid Profile Fifth Wheels are shorter lightweight Fifth Wheels with limited headroom in the front area and have shorter front caps. The lightweight Fifth Wheel Designs offer better gas mileage and include a variety of floorplans. Mid Pro's are the most popular of all Fifth Wheels.

Toy Haulers are a type of RV featuring a "garage" in the rear with a large ramp door for access. Most commonly, toy haulers are Fifth Wheel or Travel Trailers, though some Motorhomes can also come as a Toy Hauler.
