Backpacking trips that take place over several days are something that many people enjoy. Primitive backpacking campsites are available and you can easily connect with a staff member to plant your trip.

Mountain biking

We don’t want to boast, but we have some of the best mountain biking in the state! The majority of our trails are single-track.

The variety of trail difficulty will fit any riding style and experience level. But this rugged terrain offers a challenge for even the most experienced riders.

In the Water

If you are looking for water, we’ve got you covered. Six miles of Colorado River frontage allow you to cast a line, go for a swim, or enjoy a leisurely kayak trip.

Read through these water safety tips before your visit.

Swimming

One of the best swimming holes in the Texas Hill Country can be found at Colorado Bend. Spicewood Springs features several spring-fed swimming holes, along the short, flat trail. Continue on the trail and you will find even more pools and waterfalls. You can also enjoy swimming in the river.

All swimming is at your own risk; we have no lifeguards.

Caving

An entirely different world can be found underground. Over 400 caves dot Colorado Bend’s underground world. Be sure to wear sturdy shoes and make your reservation for a cave tour as they are required for all tours. Experienced guides at the park will lead you on an exciting adventure that allowed for crawling, sliding, and climbing through all sorts of spaces.
