Palo Pinto State Park is 75 miles from Fort Worth with over 4,500 acres of former ranchland that is now is now a state park. There at 16 miles of multipurpose trails. The trails can get far in the back country and look far and wide off vistas. You’ll find the 90-acre Tucker Lake that you can kayak-canoe launch or fish at. Palo Pinto park loans equipment to visitors if needed, and you don’t need a fishing license here to fish. Duke recommends this new Texas state park; you won’t be disappointed by this new hangout!
Visit the Campsites at Wilderness Resort at Disney World! You’ll be able to enjoy the outdoors and camp with what you expect to find when parked at an RV Park! The campsites are fully equipped with electricity and sewage hookup, so you won’t have to worry about keeping track of your black tank during the week. The amenities of this outdoor resort will make you feel like you are out in one of the national parks! The picturesque pine and cypress forest with deer, rabbits, ducks, and armadillos on this 750-acre resort. The campsites come with outdoor grills but also the resort has a snack bar and casual dining area. The unique thing Disney offers is that it offers RV Rentals and will be delivered there so if you are trying to figure out what RV makes sense for you!
Enchanted Rock State Natural Area is a unique park that has drawn people to central Texas to see the massive pink granite dome. Since this park is near Fredericksburg, you’d be able to visit easily while staying in town. Enchanted Rock is easy to hike; anyone can climb to the top of the granite that views the whole Hill Country from up there. It is a unique stargazing experience and does not have light pollution. With only 11 miles of trails, you can make it a fun family day trip!
Tubing down the river is a unique Texas tradition. There are several rivers to choose from in Texas. Bring your friends and family for a fun day out! This is most likely a whole day activity so bring food, water, and tons of sunblock! You can choose from the San Marcos River, Comal River, Brazos River, or the Guadalupe River – these rivers have different entry points so choose what’s easiest for you to get to.
Broken Bow Oklahoma has been one of the most popular spots in the last few years. It is easily accessible to Arkansas, Texas, and Louisiana by being in southeast Oklahoma. This community has several RV Resorts to choose from that will fit your needs. Broken Bow has public amenities like boat rentals, fishing, hiking, and more! The town has easy access to Beavers Bend State Park to go and visit to hike their trails. Fishing at Broken Bow is one of Duke’s favorite things to do after a busy day of rustling up deals on RVs; Broken Bow has some of the best fishing in Oklahoma. It not only offers conventional fishing at the lake but also fly fishing. Pay attention to local and state Game & Wildlife Regulations to know what you need to do.
Big Bend National Park is a pristine untouched landscape filled with fossils and biodiversity that you wouldn’t expect to ever see in the desert. The rich history of the park is tangible; walking along the riverbeds you easily find fossils or shark teeth casually any day of the week. You can easily find old settlements dotting the park that are easily accessible. You’ll find the past mining operations that are left behind, rich with its own history in the region like the famous ghost town, Terlingua.
The Terlingua Chili Cook Off is a World-Famous Competition since 1967, has been attracting people to compete for the best chili in the world. The mission and fundraising of the competition are to support ALS and Terlingua Schools and local groups that help the community each year. This Ghost Town sees a population increase over the first weekend of November; they host all kinds of food competitions and concerts nightly.
Indiana Dunes National Park is a conservationist dream to see. Tons of biodiversity in 15,000 acres that you’ll come across soaring 200-foot dunes that rise above Lake Michigan. This state park has tons of trails for you to hike to try out! You’ll find you can cross country skiing following the trails that are marked. These 1000-year-old dunes are home to tons vegetation and animal life that you can observe. The Indiana Dunes is great for birding to experience a diversity of birds.
